Some of the most unique video games you can play today come from Telltale Games. These multiplatform games are unique in that they are story driven, putting you in control of making major in-game decisions that have multiple outcomes. Each game is released in episodes so you have to wait to flesh out each game's story. The fact that they are officially licensed makes you feel like you are part of the story. If you are the kind of gamer that just wants to casually play a game for little effort, then these games are for you.
One of their most authentic games is Game of Thrones. It is a complete GoT experience complete with bickering families, betrayal & uneasy alliances. The game is bolstered by the fact that the cast of the show reprised their roles for the game, complete with all new dialogue. Whether you are planning heroic deeds at the wall with Jon Snow, drinking a fresh brew with Tyrian or crossing wits with Cersei Lannister, it's all faithfully recreated in this game. Good luck trying to deal with Ramsay Snow!
The Walking Dead series is based off the comic & feature original characters with a few fan favorites mixed in. This series has 5 different games: Season 1, 2, 400 Days, A New Frontier & Michonne (yes that Michonne). The universe of the game is the exact same of the show/comic: Georgia. The first game puts in the shoes of an escaped convict named Lee Everett who meets a small child named Clementine & makes it his mission to reunite the girl with her parents. 400 Days tells the story of another group of survivors & bridges the gap between Season 1 & 2. The 2nd game, Season 2, continues Clementine's journey in the post-apocalyptic world. A New Frontier lets players take control a teenage Clementine & introduces more characters to the series. Keep in mind that every decision you make carries over into the next game!

The Walking Dead is so popular that one of its most beloved characters, Michonne, gets her own game. This 3 episode game covers the events of issue 126 of the comic where she leaves Rick Grimes' group of survivors & the events leading to her return in issue 129. The Walking Dead will come to an end in 2018 as Season 4: The Final Season will release later this year concluding the story of Clementine.
Not a fan zombies or bickering families then deciding the fate of Gotham might be for you. Batman: The Telltale Series & its sequel Batman: The Enemy Within might be what you are looking for. Much like the other games, you decide where you want the story to go & your decision will have an impact throughout the game.
As Batman, you will cross wits with many of the classic Batman villains in both of these games. Making their appearance are Catwoman, Bane, The Riddler, The Penguin & of course The Joker. Do you have what it takes to stop these criminals & save Gotham?
Staying with the comic book theme, Guardians of the Galaxy give you control over the heroes as you discover an ancient artifact & must keep it out of the hands of Hala The Accuser. It is based on the Marvel Comics GotG storyline & the 2014 movie yet features its own unique storyline. Like the other Telltale Games, you must guide your heroes & the decisions you make impact the storyline.
Telltale Games even has games based on classic movie franchises Jurassic Park & Back To The Future. Jurassic Park: The Game puts you into the events of the first Jurassic Park film. If you remember the film, the theme park suffered a power outage during a storm & dinosaurs were running rampant on the island. In the game, you are trying to secure lost dinosaur embryos stolen by Dennis Nedry (also in the movie) to keep them from falling into the hands of a rogue corporation.
Back To The Future puts you in control of famous time traveler Marty McFly's shoes as you try to unravel a new, original mystery. Set 6 months after Back To The Future III, Marty is going through Doc Brown's foreclosed home & all of the sudden the (what was supposed to be destroyed) DeLorean time machine appears in the driveway. Inside is Doc's loyal dog Einstein & a tape recorder asking for Marty's help in preventing his murder in 1931. If you are a fan of the movies, this game is right up your alley!
With so many stories to tell, you easily find a Telltale Games story that's right for you! When I first started playing them, I was skeptical but I enjoyed playing knowing that my decisions impacted how my story would play out. Go ahead & give one of these games a shot, you might enjoy it too!
